Experiences

Your days, here.

No programme, no schedule. Just a valley that offers something different at every hour, and a house that makes it easy to say yes.

Flower-filled valley and river at daybreak

At dawn

Walk the valley

The trails start at the door. Flowering meadows, an ice-cold river, and no one but you. Anna will draw the quiet loop on the back of a postcard.

Mountain stream lined with pines beneath the peaks

In the afternoon

Swim in the river

Twenty minutes on foot, a crystal-clear stream and its natural pools, warmed by the summer sun. Towels and a flask of tea are by the door.

Blazing sunset seen from the lantern-lit terrace

At night

Linger by the fire

The sky catches fire, the lanterns come on. The fire pit is lit at golden hour, and the evening can last as long as the night.

The year

Four houses in one.

The building never changes. What it is for changes completely.

The valley meadow in first bloom at daybreak

April — June

The valley wakes up before you do

Meltwater comes down loud, the meadow turns over in a fortnight, and the trails are yours because nobody has thought to come yet. Mornings are cold enough to want the fire, afternoons warm enough to eat outside.

Best for walkers and anyone who wants the place to themselves

What spring costs
The south-facing terrace with the fire pit lit at golden hour

July — August

Long days that refuse to end

Light at five, still light at ten. The river warms enough to swim by July, the terrace becomes the room everyone uses, and dinner drifts until the last colour leaves the ridge. This is the season we are asked for most.

Best for families, river swimming and long dinners outside

What summer costs
A mountain stream lined with pines below the peaks

September — November

Gold, mist, and the bath comes into its own

The larches turn in about ten days and the whole valley changes colour. Mornings start under mist that burns off by ten. Cold evenings, hot water, a fire that actually earns its keep.

Best for photographers, readers and quiet weeks

What autumn costs
The villa under fresh snow at blue hour, warm light in the windows and smoke from the chimney

December — March

The volume turns down overnight

Snow arrives at night and the valley goes quiet in a way that is hard to describe until you have heard it. The house closes around the fire. Lifts are a drive away if you want them, and entirely ignorable if you do not.

Best for staying in, and for anyone who likes silence
