About

Two people, one valley.

We are not a company with a portfolio of properties. We are two people who built one house in the valley we live in, and who welcome every guest at the door.

Before

A meadow, and a stubborn idea

The land came first. A south-facing shelf above the river, too steep for farming and too quiet for anyone in a hurry. We bought it without knowing what we would build, and spent a year walking it in every season before drawing a single line.

The panoramic room, where the glass does the talking.

The build

Drawn around the view

The architect asked one question that decided everything: what do you want to be looking at when you wake up? Every room answers it. Nine metres of glass slide open onto the terrace, the roof follows the ridge behind it, and nothing in the plan competes with the window.

Eight hundred kilos of river stone, and the window built around it.

Since

Heavy, quiet things

A wooden house wants a few anchors — objects that hold temperature and silence. The stone bath was the first, carved from one block of river stone and lifted in through the window it now looks out of. The woodshed was the second. Both were harder than they sound.

What we hold to

Three decisions we will not undo.

01

One booking, the whole house

No shared spaces, no other guests, no thin walls. You take all of it or none of it — that is the entire point.

02

Silence is the amenity

We could have added a games room. We added insulation, triple glazing and a woodshed instead. The valley supplies the rest.

03

We are here, not hovering

One of us meets you at the door and walks you through the house. After that you will see us only if you want to.

Come and see for yourself.

Write to us with a question, or tell us your dates — either reaches the two of us directly.
